As some of you know, I am a craft beer enthusiast. I go to beer tweetups. I’m a member of CAMRA Vancouver. I go to St. Augustine’s way too much. As a result, I’m excited to announce that Steam Whistle Oktoberfest is coming to Vancouver!
For the first time in Vancouver, Toronto craft brewery Steam Whistle will be throwing their famed Steam Whistle Oktoberfest in our beloved city. There will be traditional Oktoberfest food, music, entertainment, and of course, Steam Whistle’s famous Pilsner.
The inspiration for Steam Whistle’s Oktoberfest came from their first ever staff trip. Once a Steam Whistle employee has worked with the brewery for over 5 years, they are taken on a staff trip to Oktoberfest in Munich. The Steam Whistle co-founders loved it so much, that they wanted to bring this celebration of European brewing back home.
… and now they’re bringing it to Vancouver!

My stepdad is German and I’ve heard pretty wicked experiences from back in the day! Priceless! He’s in his mid seventies and you’d never tell by looking at him! It’s like the great times have kept him young at heart! I haven’t been to an Oktoberfest so this would be my first! Why would I like to go? Because I’m a beer-enthusiast but my dirty little secret is I’ve never been to an Oktoberfest event…ever!
I love beer, truly & dearly. It is lovely, wonderful and yummy, all of my favourite things.

I’ve never been to this even before, and I missed out on the opportunity to move to Germany for university so this is as close as I’ll get.
we want to go because we had the chance to attend oktoberfest in Munich a couple of years ago and it was awesome .. now we are hooked. and need to get some use out of our outfits!!
I did the Oktoberfest 5 times in Munich, I also did 3 times the Wasen in Stuttgart…Beerfest is now in my DNA…I can’t miss the Vancouver one!

I would like to go because I went to Munich just over a year ago during a Euro-trip and feel in love with the city and beer in general. Carried the fascination with beer all over Europe and just couldn’t get enough. Now I do my best to stay apart of the culture I feel in love with there and would love to go to an oktoberfest event!
My mother’s Austrian. She and my aunts have all been to Oktoberfest. My cousins have all been to Oktoberfest. My brother went to Oktoberfest multiple times while in the Army. My sisters haven’t been to Oktoberfest, but they don’t want to go because they disapprove of drinking. As for me, every few years I spend a month or two in Germany, mostly Munich and Berlin. Munich is where I started drinking beer, where I learned that it can actually taste good! But I’ve never been to Oktoberfest. It’s during the semester, when I am teaching. My life is incomplete. Please help.
I think I have a loden jacket for my husband. Sadly, though, my dirndl is in storage in another city. But I bet my sister would lend me one of hers! (If I didn’t tell her why I wanted it.)
I would love to come along – I have a lot of friends in Europe who have been and say it is an absolute blast, so a taste of Oktoberfest in Vancouver sounds pretty great. And…beer! What’s not to love 🙂
Myself and my boyfriend met at Oktoberfest in Dublin,Ireland 3 years ago and every year we want to celebrate our anniversary with good beer, pretzels, fun singalong songs and druken people dressed up as Germans..2 years ago we made it to Munich but last year we were here in Van city and couldn’t find anywhere to celebrate Oktoberfest. Now we found steam whistle Oktoberfest and its all sold out! Please help we would love tickets….and we will be dressed in full Oktoberfest gear! ❤

I moved from Switzerland to Vancouver one year ago. Beside Christmas time with family, the Oktoberfest is the event I have missed most since! Munich was always an annual highlight, a lot of fun enjoying nice beer, food, music and great party time with friends and and a crazy crowd!

I have been loving Steam Whistle since it was introduced to me a couple years ago. I think their business practices are great, classic promo cars are awesome, and their beer is pretty good to. I NEED to go to this event.

I have just arrived at the alpine club, and to much disappointment I get the impression that it appears this is little more then a cash cow for steam whistle ! What’s worse is in the line up I can see a table filled with stiens and when we get to the bar to order a drink to be told there are no stiens available only pitchers and plastic cups. Really !!!! Also where are the benches to stand on and sing. Why plastic chairs ? I lined up for 25 minutes to order food to find they ran out of prepared food at 8:30 and once I get my food its stonr cold !
This is not oktoberfest. This is a con.
